Scape Fish not Scapegoats

Greetings Fish Folk!

I just got a text message from Fish Folk Melissa asking if I wanted scapes…. Oh, Fish Baby, Yes I do!

Scapes are the curly, flower stalk and flower bud of garlic that sprouts in the Spring and is cut to encourage the garlic bulb to “toughen” up before it is harvested. Highly desired by foodies for their limited season for more read more and its rarity, I just love them because they are garlic. We don’t need more “Cowbell” in this world, we need more garlic!

I’ve been going through my Fish & Scapes recipes archives and all I could find was the photo above— definitely not one of my better photos! But it has inspired me to come up with something new this week. Maybe a pesto of sorts? Stay tuned…..

Ciao,

Amber Mae
